Rev. Sam & Emily Perez

Grace Reformed Church - Rev. Sam and Emily Perez

Grace Reformed Church is a mission work under the oversight of Messiah’s Reformed Fellowship of NYC (Grace Ref’s pastor, Sam Perez, was a member at MeRF since 2003, and eventually served as one of MeRF's first elders). MeRF sent three families from her midst (in addition to two other families that were previously associated with MeRF) as a core group to start Grace Ref, which had its first worship service on September 1, 2013, in the facility of a local community college. Since then, Grace Ref has moved to a bigger and better facility, and has seen many new families and singles added to the church.

Like all new churches, Grace Ref has its share of "ups and downs.” One of the challenges is helping first generation (Reformed) Christians begin to grasp the glory of the God, the sinfulness of man, and the salvation in Christ alone. This, of course, is part of the blessing, too, since when they get it, their lives begin to change in beautiful ways.

We want to continue pressing into our community in the full confidence in Christ’s Gospel as the power of God unto salvation, showing men, women, and children around us the majesty of Christ, and how the Gospel saves us and cleanses us of all unrighteousness.

We want to be counter-cultural community, an alternative city, in a world of decay, death, and violence. A place where God’s shalom is manifest because we have been first reconciled with God, and then reconciled with one another.
