Perkins, Harrison
Lexham Academic, 2024
This is hands down the best contemporary introduction to Reformed covenant theology. Perkins does not skimp on details or historical context, but his presentation is clear and readable for officers and laity alike. One strength of this volume is that it avoids presenting covenant theology primarily in a polemical framework, as though it was a system or method of interpreting scripture that possesses enumerated benefits over other systems (believers baptist, monocovenantal, or other). Rather, Perkins makes an affirmative and positive case for the Reformed doctrine of the covenants as the clearest and best way to make sense of scriptural data (while still clarifying polemical differences when necessary).
